Bret and Suzy Kingsbury

Bret and Suzy Kingsbury both grew up in California and met in college at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Suzy earned a degree in Psychology and Human Development and also received her teaching credential there. In 1992 after Bret had graduated and Suzy had finished her first year of teaching, they were married and settled in Bakersfield, CA. Suzy taught elementary school for 10 years in 5th, 3rd, 2nd and 1st grades. In 1995, while she was still teaching full time, Connor was born. Garret was born 3 years later, at which time Suzy decided to job-share so she could spend more time at home with her boys. Suzy said, "Soon, God brought me to a place in my life where I trusted Him enough to quit my job and become a full time mom. It was the best decision I ever made!"

Meanwhile, Bret began working and traveling for ARB Construction. When Connor was born in 1995, Bret's uncle offered him a position at KS Industries where he would not have to travel. Bret has worked for KSI ever since. In 2002 KSI was awarded the surface construction contract (well pad preparation) for Shell Rocky Mountain Construction here in Pinedale, and Bret was put in charge. Suzy said, "It was a big move, but God had prepared us, and we knew it was His will."

All the Kingsburys love the outdoors - hunting, fishing and hiking. Bret and Suzy have even climbed Mt. Whitney, the highest peak in the continental US. Suzy enjoys running and volunteering at school and church. In the summer the family water skis and wakeboards, and in the winter they like to downhill ski. The boys all play hockey and Connor and Garret both play the guitar. The family enjoys attending Bible study together at the Pape's in Daniel. They are also fortunate to have Bret's parents and a few other relatives here in Pinedale.

Suzy has been a deaconess for PBC for about 3 years. She asked Jesus into her life when she was very young (5 or 6 years old), and was blessed to have many Christian influences in her life as she was growing up, especially her mom. Bret became a Christian shortly after Connor was born and Suzy and Bret were baptized together at their Church in Bakersfield. Suzy added, "I thought our marriage was wonderful before Bret became a Christian, but I had no idea how wonderful it could be until we had God at the center."

At Pinedale Bible Church Suzy got involved helping with Fisherman's Club not long after moving here. Suzy said, "I think I have the gift of organization and maybe that is why Pastor Jim asked me to become a deaconess. I also have been blessed with the gift of time, which is essential in this ministry. Really I am just a servant like everyone else. I try to help out wherever I'm needed, and to offer ideas to help our church run more smoothly. I just pray I am using all the gifts God has given me for his glory."
