Dick - Nancy Stott

Dick and Nancy Stott:

Nancy Stott was born in Minnesota and moved to California when she was 10. Dick Stott is a California native. The couple met while roller skating. They came to Pinedale for hunting and stayed for life. They have 3 children: Ric, Marcella and Jennine, and 4 grandchildren: Richie, Jason, Meghan and Nic. Some of their careers have been Western Auto Store, Deputy Sheriff, Faler’s milk truck driver, Poor Richard’s Cobbler Shop, Carpentry, Beauty Shop, Floral Shop, Artist, and Shade Western Gifts and Antiques. Perhaps they’re best known for owning and running Lakeside Lodge on Fremont Lake for 20 years.

Dick and Nancy moved to Pinedale in 1963 and bought Lakeside in 1974. The ‘lodge’ at that time was low, small, full of curios and you could see the water between the floorboards! Dick always wore a jaunty marine hat and Nancy shocked us with her pink or green hair. They ran it as a family business and everyone soon learned that Nancy was an excellent cook. In 1984 they built the new lodge there.

Donna Dickson, who rented there in the summer, remembers the day she had a skunk caught in her garbage can. She went up to the office and told Dick all about it. Dick just turned around and said, “Nancy! You have a problem!”

Nancy and Dick are now retired, like to travel and have a cabin on Fremont Lake. Nancy enjoys the art class at Rendezvous Pointe. Nancy and Dick can be seen having lunch at Rendezvous Pointe where they laugh and tease together. Dick calmly waits for Nancy to finish her salad so they can both get their entrées together. As he takes the salad plates to the window, a comment is made about his courtesy. Nancy lovingly answers, “He’s a good guy.”
